Parque La Giganta
Panquehue, Valparaíso Region
AREA PROTECTED: 228 ha
YEAR: 2021
Cerro La Giganta is located in the commune of Panquehue, Valparaiso Region. Set within the Mediterranean ecosystem of central Chile, the area hosts a significant presence of native and endemic tree, shrub, and plant species. The property covers approximately 240 hectares, and through the implementation of a Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC), 94% of the land (228 hectares) is permanently protected.
Reserva Natural Los Molles
Quilpué, Valparaíso Region.
AREA PROTECTED: 375 ha
YEAR: 2023
The Los Molles Natural Reserve is an area of just over 375 hectares found inside the Peñuelas biological corridor in La Campana, forming part of the UNESCO-recognized biosphere reserve. Through the implementation of a Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC) agreement, this land is forever protected.
Reserva Natural San Jorge
Quilpué, Valparaíso Region.
AREA PROTECTED: 76 ha
YEAR: 2022
This 76-hectare area of high ecological value will forever be protected thanks to the implementation of a Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC) agreement. The protection of these critical ecosystems contributes to the conservation of habitats for various endemic and native species; of which the vast majority are at risk or endangered due to human activity.
Águila Sur
Paine, Metropolitan Region
AREA PROTECTED: 393 ha
YEAR: 2021
This 393-hectare area forms part of the Cordon de Cantillana, a zone which is crucial for climate change resilience, making its protection and conservation essential. Therefore, through the implementation of a Derecho Real de Conservacion (DRC) agreement, more than 60% of the land will forever be protected, safeguarding the biological diversity of the Mediterranean ecosystem in Central Chile.
Santuario de la Naturaleza Cerro Poqui
Coltauco, O’Higgins region
AREA PROTECTED: 1.095 ha
YEAR: 2021
Cerro Poqui Nature Sanctuary is a 1,095-hectare protected area, which is protected almost in its entirety under two methods of conservation: Nature Sanctuary and a Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC). The decision to compliment the declaration of Cerro Poqui as a Nature Sanctuary with a DRC agreement arose from the necessity to have an additional mode of protection in order to expand the support network.

Bosques del Tinguiririca
San Fernando, O’Higgins region
AREA PROTECTED: 2.500 ha
YEAR: 2023
This private protected area covers a total of 2,500 hectares, 85% of which have been dedicated to conservation thanks to the implementation of a Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC) agreement. The objective of the zone is to restore and protect the sclerophyll forest and biodiversity, especially the Boreal relicts of the Cordillera Cypress tree. It also aims to generate scientific investigation and promote environmental education.

Roblerías
Teno, Maule Region
AREA PROTECTED: 403 ha
YEAR: 2023
In this property of just over 403 hectares, almost 70% is forever protected through the implementation of a Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC) agreement. Given the ecological importance of this site, some of the threats it faces are of particular concern. These include forest fires, climate change, and unsustainable intensive agriculture.

Parque Cuenca Andina
Romeral, Maule region
AREA PROTECTED: 12.400 ha
YEAR: 2023
This area of just over 12,400 hectares is located in the Los Queñes zone, making it the largest protected area in the Maule Region. Through the implementation of a Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC) agreement, the conservation of this landscape is guaranteed forever, ensuring an unfragmented and ecologically healthy territory in the country’s most threatened ecosystem.

Parque La Montaña
Los Queñes, Maule Region
AREA PROTECTED: 645 ha
YEAR: 2025
A 645-hectare zone located in the pre-mountain zone of Central Chile, preserved forever through a Derecho Real de Conservación. Parque La Montaña directly borders two other protected areas: Parque Cuenca Andina, an area of over 12,300 hectares protected in perpetuity alongside Tierra Austral and its owners, and the Alto Huemul Nature Sanctuary of more than 22,000 hectares. This connectivity of landscapes creates a critical biological corridor that allows for the free movement of species; a vital ecological corridor condition for the mitigation and adaptation to climate change.

Parque Valle Los Ulmos
Ensenada, Los Lagos Region
AREA PROTECTED: 600 ha
YEAR: 2023
Thanks to the committed board of members at the Parque Valle Los Ulmos, and to the establishment of a Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC) agreement, 600 hectares on the base of the Calbuco volcano are forever protected. This milestone protects a highly scientific and ecologically valuable volcanic ecosystem.

Rincón del Sur
Puerto Montt, Los Lagos Region
AREA PROTECTED: 436 ha
YEAR: 2021
Fundacion Tierra Austral and the company Colbún S.A. cosigned a de Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC) agreement in an trailblazing effort to perpetually protect 436 hectares of land located on the shores of Chapo lake, in the Los Lagos Region. These terrains form part of a biological corridor that connects the Alerce Andino National Park to the Llanquihue National Reserve.

Alihuén
Chiloé, Los Lagos Region
AREA PROTECTED: 70 ha
YEAR: 2023
By signing a Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC) agreement, 70 hectares on Isla Grande of Chiloé will be permananetly protected, which form part of the Nature Sanctuary Wetlands of the Chepu Basin. This conservation initiative, called Alihuén, focuses on ecological restoration, sociocultural connectivity, organic agriculture and inclusive ecotourism.

This conservation initiative is part of the efforts to protect the banks of the Futaleufú River through Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC) agreements. The project is carried out in collaboration with the organization Futaleufú Riverkeeper.

Valle California
Palena, Los Lagos region
AREA PROTECTED: 3.200 ha
YEAR: 2012
Fundación Tierra Austral and Patagonia Sur co-established a Conservation Easement to protect the biodiversity and ecosystems in perpetuity of a 3,200-hectare piece of land located in the Palena province of the Los Lagos region. The land boasts a high biological diversity, providing a connective landscape for wildlife, housing native forests and valuable water resources.
