Located within the Mediterranean ecosystem of central Chile, Parque La Giganta is home to a significant presence of native and endemic tree, shrub, and plant species.
The property spans approximately 240 hectares, and through the implementation of a Derecho Real de Conservación (DRC), 94% of the land (228 hectares) will be permanently protected. The park hosts numerous species classified under various conservation categories, such as guayacán and algarrobo, and also homes four native cacti species, including Eriosyce coimasensis (Quisquito de las Coimas), an endemic cactus with a limited geographical range in the Aconcagua Valley. Now that La Giganta welcomes visitors, the park has become an important symbol of education and recreation for the local residents of San Felipe and the surrounding areas.
