Ecological restoration project, sociocultural connectivity, organic agriculture and inclusive ecotourism in Ancud.
A new private protected land has been established in the Los Lagos Region. Thanks to the signing of a DRC agreement, 70 hectares will be forever protected on the Island Grande of Chiloe, which form part of the Chepu Basin Wetland Nature Sanctuary. Alihuén, the name given to this conservation inititave, is a project of ecological restoration, sociocultural connection, organic agriculture and inclusive ecotourism. Thanks to the work and dedication of the family behind Alihuén and the more than 200 volunteers they receive annually, over 40,000 native trees have been planted! Tierra Austral will continue to support this pioneering project, joining forces on shared objectives to connect forests. Want to know more? Go to www.alihuen.org and learn their story.
