Protecting Chile's natural heritage forever
Our Story
More than 12 years working in nature conservation
Fundación Tierra Austral is a non-profit organization founded in early 2012 with the mission of conserving private lands of high ecological value across the country. We collaborate with various landowners to establish new private protected areas that will be preserved forever using the Derecho Real de Conservación and other legal tools.
Our goal is to conserve lands so that they remain ecologically healthy, rich in biodiversity and to establish wildlife corridors; all critical strategies for climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Chile's First Conservation Guarantee Organization or Land Trust
A Conservation Guarantee Organization (CGO) or Land Trust is a non-profit entity whose mission is the conservation of biodiversity, and/or its associated cultural or human welfare values, on private property. It acts in favor of land stewardship, guaranteeing the effective conservation of nature in the long term. Fundación Tierra Austral was the first CGO in Chile.

Our Purpose
To protect nature and its biodiversity on Chilean private property
Fundación Tierra Austral’s mission is to lead and expand efforts promoting the conservation of private lands all throughout Chile, working alongside landowners, non-governmental organizations, public agencies, companies and all those who love and are dedicated to the protection of the most ecologically and culturally significant landscapes of the country.
